Unfortunately for Barry and for Shamrock Rovers an ankle problem meant that he missed the play-off when Rovers were relegated by Dublin City.
Although only 20 Barry put in a number of excellent performances giving Rovers hope of avoiding relegation in the 2005 eircom season.
Duff made his senior international debut against the Czech Republic in 1998 and has since become one of Ireland's most important players, playing in either attack or on the left spent three seasons at Chelsea before moving to Newcastle in the summer of 2006.
